Mary Anne Pastino (Mim) was a noted watercolorist for over 20 years, with a primary focus on flowers. Her work has been shown at a number of public and private galleries. In 2011, Mim was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but managed to continue to paint through 2016.

Mim’s granddaughter, Sophia—a junior at Penncrest High School in Media PA—wanted to honor her grandmother by creating a fundraising campaign to raise Alzheimer’s awareness. She and her family designed a calendar that features Mim’s artwork and chose WAM as a beneficiary. “I love that WAM is focused on women like my grandmother,” says Sophia.

Sophia created a team called Mim’s Purple Secret, named after one of the few paintings Mim titled. The team is made up of family, friends, and volunteers who assemble, print, and sell the calendars.

Each calendar is $20, and if you would like to purchase one. please contact Sophia directly at shifrahmiriam@gmail.com or visit Sophia’s team’s page. These calendars are made possible through the generous donations of Brilliant Graphics and Lindenmeyr Munroe.
