My mother was an indomitable force — but no match for Alzheimer’s. I went from writing sitcoms to an Alzheimer’s activist. I co-founded USAgainstAlzheimer’s in 2011 to press for a goal here and abroad to stop Alzheimer’s by 2025. I co-founded WomenAgainstAlzheimer’s in 2013 to create a women’s movement because we are 2/3 of victims and caregivers – definitely a glass ceiling we didn’t want to break. I wrote an off-Broadway play, “Surviving Grace,” about my mom which played around the country; we’re now staging readings to raise awareness and money for the cause.
