The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement and David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA have partnered to establish the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement Research Initiative at UCLA, it was announced at #WOW-The Wonder of Women Summit on April 11. The Initiative will fund a faculty member in UCLA’s Semel Institute or the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital to conduct sex and gender-based Alzheimer’s disease research. The initiative kicks off July 1, 2019, and will be launched with $50,000 from the #WOW event. The hope is to inspire others to donate to the initiative and fund women and Alzheimer’s research at UCLA far into the future.

Emceed by actress Lisa Kudrow, the event was educational and inspirational with speakers, including top UCLA scientists and researchers, as well as celebrities committed to women’s health issues, like Julianne Hough and Sara Bareilles.

This exciting announcement was made at the #WOW-The Wonder of Women Summit during a dynamic interview between WAM founder, Maria Shriver, and UCLA Dean of the David Geffen School of Medicine, Kelsey Martin. Watch the video below:
